Synopsis: Ben Reilly faces severe public backlash after a virtual doppelgänger of the Scarlet Spider goes on a violent rampage through Manhattan. Amid the chaos, Jason Tso fires Reilly as his bodyguard right before being assassinated by the Pro. Meanwhile, Doctor Octopus and the Master Programmer attempt a dangerous reality-cyberspace merger using stolen technology and Cyber-Slayers. Seward Trainer supplies Ben with a specialized virtual virus, which Ben deploys via a headset to halt the merger. Although Doctor Octopus manages to escape, the crisis leaves Ben’s reputation in ruins and sets the stage for the return of the classic Spider-Man identity.
